CQ artist featured in Chinese pastel celebrations
Capricorn Coast artist Lyn Diefenbach was one of five international guests chosen to present and hold demonstrations at China’s recent Centenary of Pastel celebration in Suzhou.
Lyn chose the Bombax flowers on Moores Creek Road in Rockhampton as her demonstration painting.
Lyn’s invitation to be part of the Chinese event came after having works selected for the last two international exhibitions run by the China Pastel Network, and her reputation as an artist, teacher and mentor over many years.
Lyn said she was proud to represent her home, and it was “an overwhelmingly humbling experience to be a part of such a landmark event in an amazingly beautiful place”.
Earlier this year Lyn spent five weeks in the US running workshops, painting in Yellowstone National Park and attending the International Association of Pastel Societies (IAPS) Biennial Convention where she gave a two-hour demonstration.
Lyn’s also received IAPS’ highest award: Eminent Pastellist. It’s a title that’s existed since 2013, and only 15 artists across the world have achieved it.
Next year Lyn’s travels take her to teach in Alaska and Switzerland as well as across Australia.
Capricorn Enterprise CEO Mary Carroll said “Lyn is so humble yet her passion for art and her community needs to be promoted and celebrated. We are so very proud Lyn’s many achievements and pay tribute to this incredible milestone in her career.”
