Talk your way into success with Toastmasters

Has anything been universally lied about on resumes as much as communication skills?

It’s right up there with intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel in the list of things people assume they can do without necessarily doing anything to develop those skills.

It might be worth doing something though; a recent survey on LinkedIn found communication and leadership skills are big ticket items for job seekers and career ladder climbers.

“Even as artificial intelligence transforms the way companies do business and employers hire, communication and leadership remain an integral part of keeping the human connection that enables them to thrive,” says Morag Mathieson, Toastmasters’ International President.

If you’d rather run for the hills than run a meeting, you can build those skills by joining a Toastmasters club - like one of the two we have in Rocky.

Toastmasters is a supportive setting to work on soft skills like public speaking, leading discussions, active listening, giving constructive feedback, and getting feedback without blowing your stack.

Both Rocky clubs meet at CocoBrew in William St:

Entrepreneurs Capricorn Toastmasters Club, 6.30am on alternating Fridays.

Rockhampton Boomerang Toastmasters Club, 6.15pm on alternating Tuesdays.
