Later this month Emerald musician Anna Farquhar will take to the stage to open for some of Australia’s top country talent, including CMC’s Male Artist of The Year Travis Collins, Missy Lancaster, Casey Barnes, Baylou and Hayley Jensen.

That’s just part of the lineup for rock edge country music festival VDMfest at the Biloela showgrounds on October 27.

Anna was selected to open the show through competition with heats right across Central Queensland, and she’s looking forward to playing alongside some of the best in the music industry.

After completing her Bachelor of Music in Brisbane, Anna moved back to Emerald and was trying to grow her music teaching business on the side while driving a smoko van.

“I came to the point where I thought if I want to do music for the rest of my life, then I’ve got to make it happen,” Anna said.

“So I quit my job and took a chance on myself and started doing music full time.”

While Anna has drawn motivation from musician Mick Lindsay together with the encouragement she received from her school music teachers to continue to pursue music as a career, she credits her family as her main source of inspiration.

“They are incredible, honest and hardworking people. They have taught me perseverance and dedication and their support for me has never waivered.”

Anna looks at the upcoming VDMfest as an amazing opportunity to grow and learn.

“It’s going to be one of the biggest events that I’ve performed at. Being able to join such an amazing line up is going to be incredible.

“Just being able to watch and learn from these established artists is going to be really beneficial.”

VDMfest is ready to rock Biloela on October 27 from 4pm. Get there early to catch Anna Farquhar open the show.
