Ironing Maidens bringing phlat beats to Rocky laundromat
Ironing's one of the shittest household chores, but that doesn't mean you can't crank up some good tunes and make the best of it.

Especially if you're the Iron Maidens, a show developed by Byron Bay-based electronic music duo Patty Preece and Melania Jack bringing laundry-inspired beats to an actual laundromat in North Rocky next month.
The duo have modified the usual irons and ironing boards into electronic instruments, and they'll also be micing up the washing machines and dryers themselves and mixing those sounds into their set. There'll be music, costumes, lighting, dancing, ironing puns, and along the way a look at domestic labour, technology and the history of women in electronic music.
The show's already done the rounds of regional NSW, as well as the METRO Sydney, Fusion Fest Germany, The Berlin Performance Art Festival and Byron's Falls Festival.
Rocky's turn comes on June 23 at the Super Clean laundromat, at the bottom of Musgrave St opposite the Puma service station.
$15 early bird tickets are available til May 25 (sort yourself out here) and full door price is $40. For a little more you can get a VIP package with early entry, a meet and greet with the performers before the show, and a merch pack with bag, apron, CD... and surprises.
